OAIA 2021 Webinar Series
During 2021, restrictions due to COVID-19 continue to affect programming at the Ontario Association for Impact Assessment (OAIA). OAIA offers two virtual webinars to facilitate discussion about current topics in impact assessment and engage with both our regular and student members. These include: a Winter Webinar focusing on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and impact assessment in Canada with a focus on British Columbia and Ontario; and, a Summer Webinar highlighting recent graduate research in impact assessment.
Winter Webinar: UNDRIP & Impact Assessment: Opportunities & Challenges for Reconciliation
Facilitator: Cheryl Chetkiewicz
During this webinar, speakers will present the ways in which different levels of government are looking to implement the declaration and hear views from others, including Indigenous People, about the opportunities that the declaration provides to facilitate effective impact assessment.
Summer Webinar: Showcasing Research of Graduate Students
Facilitator: Cole Atlin
The Ontario Association for Impact Assessment (OAIA) seeks to foster innovation in and sharing of best practices in impact assessments. Since 2018, OAIA has been supporting graduate students through a student bursary. This webinar is intended to focus work of recent graduates or current graduate students with a view to informing practitioners of new, emerging and innovative ideas.
