Join the Ontario Association for Impact Assessment’s Board of Directors – Three Position Available!

The Ontario Association for Impact Assessment (OAIA) seeks to have a Board reflecting the diversity of experience and expertise across Ontario. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates using the digital form below.

Applications must be submitted by 11:59pm on January 2nd, 2026.

Position Overview
Board members play a pivotal role in guiding OAIA’s mission to promote sound decision-making through the practice of impact and environmental assessment. We are seeking individuals with knowledge of and passion for impact assessment, who exemplify a commitment to equitable and sustainable development, and are seeking an opportunity to work collaboratively with a diverse group of professionals.

Board members must serve for a two-year volunteer term, starting January 2026. Board members must also hold OAIA membership and be committed to attending a minimum of six Board meetings each year. Board meetings are virtual and held from 12:00-1:00pm (Eastern Time Zone) on the first Tuesday of every month. In the summer, meetings will shift to avoid long weekends.

Board members are encouraged to participate in one of OAIA’s five committees and attend OAIA events, including our annual conference.

The OAIA Bylaws provide further information regarding the structure and role of the Board of Directors.

 

Available Director Roles

The following roles are currently available to OAIA Directors:

 

Conference Committee Co-Chair
The Conference Committee Co-Chair is a role associated with the Conference Committee. This role is responsible for:

  • Attending all Conference Committee meetings and the annual OAIA Conference.
  • Directly assisting the Conference Committee Chair with their conference related executive tasks.
  • Supervising, assisting, and directing the general Conference Committee members with conference related tasks.

 

Webinar, Workshops and Events Committee Lead
The Webinar, Workshops and Events Committee Lead is a role associated with the Webinar, Workshops and Events Committee. The Lead is responsible for:

  • Coordinating committee volunteers.
  • Organizing webinars, workshops and other events, excluding the annual conference.
  • Coordinating with the Communications Committee for communications needs.

 

Candidate Selection
The OAIA Board and Nominating Committee will review applications to nominate a candidate to be put forward for election at OAIA’s Annual General Meeting to be held virtually on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026 at 5pm EST. Applicants will be contacted should further information be required and will be notified if they will be put forward for election.

To be voted onto the Board, the successful candidate MUST be present for the AGM on January 14th.
